THE FLYING GIRL poem by Ari Gold The world was beautiful until you came in thinking you had no wing. Be pretty. Be tough. Be pretty tough. Pretty and tough and still thrown in a cage. You kneel in the aviary put on the lipstick. An ant is buried in the purple clay. The birds sleep beside you. You smash your reflection and glass rains down on their feathers. “It’s only me,” you say. The cage post pins your robot heart. You could stay here and dream forever mud warm against your belly, stench of overcooked cricket-burger in the air. Behind the bars of the cage, the cool night air raises a single string from the roof tarp. It rises, falls, rises. That string is freer than you. Breathe and push. Push and breathe. You ball your fists into the mud and push. You fly above the traffic asking do these demons chase or guard me? They are your flock completing the work of your grandmothers releasing your flight, rising from the broken glass asking the air to carry you over hard pavement pavement so hard it cannot resist the pushing of a single weed. Beauty is nature’s trick to get us to see. It is not hard to fly, when we awaken to our gentle power.

To gain that feeling of comfort with uncertainty I love to experiment on a different fields of arts to tell a story. Stories from my life, memories and subconscious. Everything is like a dream or illusion to me. Play of forms, energy which I try to capture. Throughout the creating process I observe a plot of my mind. Projects are after images of dying storylines which I let go. I surrender to a process that is very often a ritual of healing emotions. From an early age I have always had this question, "who am I ?". My inspiration comes from the urge for self growth, that is why I refer to mysticism, shamanism, quantum physics - psychomagic - learning about the mind and body and spirit connections. I discovered how we are conditioned and unaware of our behaviors and where they came from. It's like being in a loop or in a hamster wheel - in a circle of repeating patterns. I am using patterns in some of my work to depict this phenomenon. Grażyna Wikierska, born in Poland in 1978 and currently live and work in Somerset, England.
