About The Artwork

Water is where my spirit lives. We have an in-ground pool that I call "big blue". It mesmerizes me every year. I have the same enchantment with water from the Caribbean to rivers to melting snow puddles. Through digital photography and plein air painting and sketching, I document water ripples, refracting light and how it creates fractal portraits of colours and hilariously distorted body parts....including my own. The water frees and heals our emotions and soothes our physical bodies. My studios and clients homes are filled with big colourful paintings that harmonize with their modern interior styles. But mostly they increase personal joy and happiness dopamine levels for my clients. I’m mostly inspired by artists of the early 20th century cubist and expressionist movement. Kandinsky, Klimt, Degas, Klee, Picasso, etc. I love the the romance and sensuality of line, colour, shape, and the figure intertwined with waterscapes. This is why the shapes I’m inspired by come from light on water, refractions underwater...and reflections of exotic environments captured on water’s surface. I love being surrounded by water...beside it, over it, under it. If I could live in my bikini 24x7x365 I would. (A goal I aspire to.) The main thread in my work is strong layers of colour, a combination of representational and abstract figures and shapes. A lot of my work is really about my physical and emotional reactions experiencing adventure and wonder. Which luckily is often. This painting uses premium materials including Golden Acrylic Liquid paints, charcoal and graphite, and is painted on Baltic Birch plywood, with ¼" (6mm) thick painting panels that retains tremendous strength. Please note, this will ship in a premium box and NOT a crate. We ship using UPS approved art boxes from Uline, with art wrapped in bubble wrap and other protective materials. Shipping unframed, stretched canvas and wood panel sizes up to 60" packaged in high quality, boxed packaging. These can be reused for moving purposes.
