About The Artwork
This painting is a part of a series of birds painted much larger than life size. This is a Snow Bunting. Most of these bird works present the subject looking outward at the viewer. At times they are peering at the viewer with one eye. I exaggerate the features of the bird, especially the feet. The body seems so perfectly built until ones eye meet with the legs and feet, which in many cases appear deformed. 20 or so thin layers are applied to build up the surface.
