About The Artwork
Viking ships are a common theme in my art. Here I have symbolised Scotland's ancestry with a road paved with golden (leaf) Celtic symbols. The two figures on board represent the two countries that make up the UK. This painting began life some years ago as a historical piece with Celtic symbols made with a sand finish, with a very fiery past. But inevitably history ends up in the present, so I added the Gold to symbolise Scotland's huge wealth of natural resources being plundered as we stare at the Moon.
