About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by the thought of that great black sea of empty space we can imagine as existing long before and long after our existence occurs, it is a symbolic representation of this. Artistically I refer to this as oblivion. I am using this as a metaphor, the woman is a mother here, the tower is a symbol for what we build, winged it becomes symbolically spiritualized through the idea of transcending and the worms represent the manifestation of fertile soil. Where things are burried and where things grow,

I was born in Tucson, AZ where I developed an initial love for drawing. My mother was a great encouragement and inspiration to me as an artist, folk musician and all around highly creative influence in these early formative years. I studied metalwork, ceramic sculpture and visual art in high school. I went immediately to study life drawing at the University of Arizona for a semester before attending Pima Community College where I focused about 3 years on drawing, life drawing, watercolor, intaglio printmaking and anthropology courses. I then moved to Portland, OR, where I became involved working with Legerdemain/Slighted and the Pan-Zen Konspiracy Nett-Wyrk and participated in multimedia events exploring work in avant garde musical projects and art, further developing my own style and use of acrylic painting on masonite or hardboard. I also became affiliated with dagonproductions.com around this time where I began my first online gallery. I moved to Denver in 2001 where I focus all of my energy as a painter. I have been represented by Perihelion Art Gallery (www.perihelionarts.org ) for their entire duration as a gallery and also began showing art through various galleries, venues, festivals, magazines, publications, online forums etc. I have also become very prolific doing album artwork, marrying the visual to the auditory, I have had my artwork featured on over 60 differet cd, cassette & vinyl releases at this time. I have also worked doing book covers.
