I have images and colors that come back over and over again. Goldfish have been in different works of mine since the 1990's - as I have had big long living goldfish since I was a kid. Vintage jello ads are graphic and gross at the same time, but such an interesting concept that something can be captured floating in its midst. I have placed it on my glass vintage cake stand, and voilà: all of my memories swirling around together in this piece. Denise Brook is a contemporary artist who lives and works in San Diego, California. She was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles in the 1970’s and got her BFA from CSU Fresno. Her work is based on images and ephemera from the past, mixed with hidden and ironic commentary on love, politics and the consumerism of the 21st Century. This painting includes a ash floating frame with the hanging hardware included.
