VIEW IN MY ROOM
Titled "Between Worlds" a male deer stands almost gossamer-like in this original oil 10.5" (26.67cms) x 10" (25.4 cms) painting on illustration board. I wanted to capture the earthiness of this animal but also that which is the inexplicable ethereal. I used oil paints and oil paint sticks to achieve this look, implementing sgraffito and layering. The animals of this world, of which we are one, don't just belong to this molten-centered sphere. We are all stardust. Signed in the lower right hand corner. Working from a colourist's perspective I continue to experiment with palettes to see how much more energy and aliveness I can bring to my paintings and in the process search for more ways to make my studio and the art that is produced more eco-friendly. size: 10.5 x 10 inches medium: oil paper: illustration board acid-freeys to make my studio and the art that is produced in it more eco-friendly, focusing on harm reduction and elimination in my methods and materials. SHIPPING: includes tracking and insurance which is included in the price. I have sold hundreds of paintings in my career as a working artist and my work has been accepted in juried art exhibits both here and in the United States. Have questions? Just convo me.

Rather than empowering what kills our motivation and spirit in the world, I rebel against that by focusing on creating nature-inspired positive, uplifting and vibrant original fine art in accessible and affordable small to large formats, limiting and/or eliminating ecologically harmful materials and methods in the process. Having established a firm foundation in realism, I have grown into abstract expressionism to capture the evocation of what I see and feel when in nature. I find acrylics to be a great medium to convey the texture, energy, immediacy and spontaneity of the moods that are invoked by the natural world; be it a gloomy eve or a radiant summer day, quiet in the air or the rushing of waves. Oils also have their place in capturing evocative and luminescent scenes and subjects. Watercolours, coloured pencils, charcoal, oil pastel and so on, lend themselves to a specific moment or expression. These mediums help me to describe that moment that I am capturing or trying to express in a tangible, physical, emotional evocative form.
