The Perfect Series consists of fourteen 8"x10" oil paintings of life sized little girls' shoes representing the "Perfect" woman: Silent, Absent, Content, Obedient, Compliant, Convenient, Pent, Dependant, Vacant, Ignorant, Abstinent, Innocent, Reverent, and Pleasant. It is a memorial to the fourteen women who died during The Montreal Massacre, on Dec. 6, 1989, at l'Ecole Polytechnique. Screaming, "I want women," Marc Lepine, a twenty-five year old male, shot twenty-eight, and killed fourteen women for failing to be "Perfect." Each of the fourteen paintings has been shot with a .22-calibre hunting rifle, the weapon used by Lepine, a permanent reminder of the holes left, physical and spiritual, in the wake of his hatred. These daughters, sisters, friends, were executed for daring to have a dream of their own, thus failing to be perfect. Geneviève Bergeron (1968-1989), civil engineering student.
