About The Artwork
Part of my process is laying down color in abstract compositions to see what is beautiful or compelling together. I sit with these for a while until I am ready to overlay something magical. Lately that has been mushrooms. I draw them using a bright color of gelly pen that leaves a raised mark you can feel, making the work very tactile. Mushrooms work in a network with the other living things in the forest, mainly underground and unnoticed. As a mother and an artist, this really resonates with me.
