Hand stripped and sanded crack willow branches hung with goose feathers, deer bones and a giant chunk of obsidian. This piece felt like it represented no mans land; the place between worlds. There is a cross between the grounding texture of wood and rock mixed with the more ethereal lightness of feathers and tribalistic display of bones. It reminded me of a giant dream catcher, with the obsidian being the protective aspect. I'd experienced a couple of very close deaths that year, which had drawn me a lot to the colour white and feathers. At the same time I broke up with a not so serious boyfriend who in turn said a lot of bad things about me; though he didn't inspire much, he did inspire the title.
