Greece
My main theme is the notion of Utopia, a vision for an ideal manifestation of the future. I explore the concept through the rendering of dreamscapes or landscapes of the mind that delve into the notion of Utopia in a topographic manner, leading to the creation of cosmographic maps.Through improvisation, intuition and by tapping into a stream of consciousness, I construct “landscapes of the mind” aiming at a cosmic unity, where existing and fabricated visuals are mingled. The emphasis is given on biodiversity and a playful urge to invite the viewers to scan and explore the picture, by making their own free associations and bring into play their emotional reasoning. Elements found include: professions vector graphics of people, silhouettes of men and women with different jobs and accessories, vehicles, outer space, technology, aerial views, topography, geometry, flora and fauna, repetition, obsession, eastern and western art forms; they all feed my subconscious process. The message linked to my artwork is: Symbiosis. My drive is to create symbiotic relationships between the various elements that appear on the surface and impart a state of a Jungian wholeness: A state in which a stream of consciousness and the subconscious mind, work together in harmony. When all of the elements of a piece combine to make a balanced, harmonious and complete whole, inviting the viewer to explore both the parts of the whole as well as the sum of the parts. Various forms of natural and manmade organisms are interdependent and seem to live together in harmony. Forms and movement in the world outside of man are duplicated within the human organism. When you understand a thing outside of yourself you are actually recognizing something that is felt within you.
