During the first Lockdown in the UK, out of necessity, I worked exclusively with flowers; I didn't have to leave the house and garden and I thought it would suffice to keep me working. What I hadn't realised was that this subject is so fascinating, versatile and rewarding, 2 years later I am still photographing botanical specimens. These Chrysanthemums are from our neighbour. I knew there was some value in them but couldn't quite get there, so I left them for a few days. When I looked at them again they had become something so different. I used a ring flash to give them an illustrative feel and get what remaining colour to glow. During Lockdown I photographed flowers; it was without risk and I really enjoyed it. So much so that I carried on with the 'portraits.' These are Lilies left on my doorstep by my next door neighbour. The Image size is 79cm x 52.6 printed on Innova 315gsm Smooth Cotton High White Matte paper using Epson Ultrachrome HDR inks. Paper is A1 size - 84.1cm x 59.4. Signature, Date, Title and Edition Number on Verso. Sent with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Born in 1955 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and could not wait to get away. Spent time after finishing an ignominious school career in Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan Pakistan, India and Nepal. Then studied Photography at Sheffield Poly, starting in 1979. Did Teacher Training and taught for 1 year at a school in North London which was more than enough. Subsequently worked for Warner Brothers in a non photographic capacity and the BBC both Teaching and Photographing. I have recently returned to working with traditional, wet processes alongside digital. The images in my portfolio start in the 70's and go through to the present day. www.ianhoskin.co.uk
