This pictures an island nestled in Westport River made of little more than a half dozen trees and flat boulders. Grass shoots up through a silt and gravel shore that recedes entirely at high tide. This is one of the most remote locations I have ever painted, and the feeling of the calm yet dynamic environment comes through in the work.
