About The Artwork
A moody cloudscape to capture the creative dialogue of writing. The darkness represents the inner storms which create fine writing, which manifests in the cloud formation. The clouds are rendered in a painterly, heavily textured way to prevent them from appearing ethereal or wispy. The artist intends that the work appear potent and majesterial, in antithesis to other works where she has portrayed the skies as heavenly or tranquil. This is to suggest the battle element of bringing creative work to fruition.

My art is primarily organic abstraction, often portraying surreal and softened landscapes. A dream or nebulous quality marks both transitions and compositions. This is derived from a mode of life, which is rooted in inner stillness. I live in South West France, surrounded by tranquil forests. That quietness of being is what I strive for in my studio. I paint without distraction, so that I can fully connect with what I am creating. The more I can remove myself from the process, the better the work. I only paint in oils as they give such wonderful luminosity and I prefer large scale pieces for freedom of mind.
