Nothing lasts forever but change. I have long wanted to use the image of a skull in my painting, and, as often happens, inspiration came suddenly. The image of the skull is an understanding of the world in a state of constant change, decline and rebirth, creativity, a taste for life and vital power. Everything changes, and everything remains. Peony - Imperial flower in China, due to its spectacular beauty associated with wealth, fame and dignity. Peony is also a Japanese symbol of abundance associated with joy and longevity.
