Red Deeps Oil paint on stretched canvas 31 x 24 Currently I have been working on some larger paintings, drawing on the research I did last year, examining the water from its source down in the centre of Todmorden. This painting is multi-layered, and much of the imagery is from a visit to the river close to the centre of town, where it is possible to walk on a path down below river level, and look up through the layers of water.

Anne’s painting is bound up with examination of the land, and in particular, the ephemeral, those forces and presences that cannot be seen but which change and shape the land. The work has taken her to a range of habitats to examine them in new ways and consider how each small part of our upland and lowland environment affects larger systems. Anne has a Master of Art (Fine Art) and BA Honours Degree in Fine Art from Manchester School of Art. Career highlights have included being selected for the Royal Institute of Painters in watercolour exhibition, Mall Galleries, (2024, 2023), ING Discerning Eye exhibition (2022) Sunday Times Watercolour competition (2020) and making live ice installations at the Whitworth Gallery and Victoria Baths Manchester.
