About The Artwork

On a canvas that has absorbed not only paints but also fragments of the soul, a house is depicted standing on the ground amidst mountain peaks. The mountains rise like silent keepers of time, symbolizing unchanging memories that remain constant despite all changes. This house is not just a building. It embodies something much greater: the familiar walls that were once a refuge, the laughter and tears that filled it with life. But now, being far from these walls, the house in the author’s mind is only fragments of memories and dreams. The perimeter of the painting is framed with traditional national embroidery, like a blanket that covers the most cherished moments. These patterns are a reminder of the roots that remain part of us despite distance and time. The embroidery gently and tenderly guards those moments when the house was a real place and not a mirage on the horizon. The author, being an immigrant, reflects in this work a complex interplay of emotions. It is a longing for the lost, a hope for finding something new, and a profound sense of uncertainty. In this house, standing on the ground among the mountains, all the doubts and hopes with which a person who has left their homeland struggles are embodied. It is a question that continues to echo: “What is home?” - the place we came from, where we strive to go, or something that needs to be created anew from the fragments of the past? The painting becomes the first piece in a series dedicated to the search for oneself and one’s place in the world. It invites the viewer on a journey of reflection and self-discovery, addressing those parts of their soul that are also seeking answers to the eternal questions of home and belonging.
