VIEW IN MY ROOM
The artwork “Estaww” signifies a conflict seen among Muslims, by portraying salat, a prayer that is a major pillar of Islam. During the prayer, Muslims wholesomely gather in harmony behind a single imam. The title of the work is one of the words uttered by the imam to the rows of Muslims praying behind. The word roughly translates to “align,” calling the rows to stand shoulder to shoulder and filling in any gaps. This is symbolic of how Muslims should keep a united front. However, in reality, once the prayer ends, Muslims scatter and divide into many clashing sects and cliques.
