This is an oil painting of the artist's daughter, at a few months old. Asleep, and relaxed, the blanket loosely wrapped around her, almost looks like angel wings. This modern 'cherub' painting, doesn't come from a religious perspective. It comes from the wonder of a parent feels looking at their child. A child is born, with an innate, sense of wonder. A parent gets back some of this wonder, looking at their child, which seems like a miracle, in so many ways. Art also can celebrate wonder, in ways of seeing, and responding to nature, and the human condition. This painting, is an affectionate, look at the artist's daughter. The title is an obvious reference to William Blake's poem Infant Joy; I have no name I am but two days old.— What shall I call thee? I happy am Joy is my name,— Sweet joy befall thee! Pretty joy! Sweet joy but two days old, Sweet joy I call thee; Thou dost smile. I sing the while Sweet joy befall thee.

I was born in London UK, but have spent the last 19yrs, living on the tropical island of Koh Phangan. My work, is colorful, like my life has been. My art has always been a celebration of life, from art school, to the present. They are about what I see, and feel. They are about the human condition, and a fascination, with a heroic struggle. They are about love, and they are about form. I have a strong link to western art, taking a circuitous, route, from early art, through classicism, modernism to contemporary art. I reference, and draw from these influences, but also I breathe in culture, in all it’s forms, and from my rich, eventful life. I wish to communicate through my work. I hope you understand.
