Original abstract mixed media artwork on mounted on canvas. Side edges of canvas painted black, ready to hang. Pastel, paint, tape, labels, cutouts and more on/in corrugated cardboard. Part of the Earthquake Proof series. Created for a solo exhibit at the 6th Street Container alternative art space in Miami in the summer of 2016. This series features works I created by assembling and interacting with corrugated cardboard and/or other materials that are usually discarded. Here they become re-purposed/re-activated to a new and better existence by pastels, paints, cut-outs, and more. Enjoy listening to the original sound art piece “Exile, the Movie” created by Randy Nutt for the Opening exhibit of Earthquake Proof at 6th Street Container in Miami in June 2016, youtube video at https://youtu.be/Fv-8p-yPHWA. This piece is interactive.

United States
Hi. I am a North Carolina-based artist. At some point, the world broke into particles, for me. I realized that matter was interchangeable. Everything is significant, in that, it is part of everything else. I start with matter and see how it comes together. There might be realistic elements or not. Mostly, my Art is about the glory of life. If we can find it. Recently, I am creating whimsical paintings with brightly colored tempera and latex (see these series: Memory Possibilities, Loblolly Memory Pad). Who knows what will be next? I was juried into the Orange County Artists Guild, OCAG, (Carborro, NC) in February, 2020. I moved to North Carolina in March 2018, after having lived in Miami for 33 years. Originally from the Chicago area, I was a founding member of the experimental art rock band Merz Pix. Private collectors across the US and the globe (France, the UK, the Netherlands, Tasmania, Japan) have purchased my works.
