About The Artwork
The sun is one of the most important totems worshiped by ancient civilizations as a deity that gives warmth, divides day and night, and has a great influence on the success of the harvest. The sculpture is made in the form of figurines that were found at the sites of archaeological excavations on the territory of Ukraine and are monuments of the Tryplian culture, which was spread in ancient times in this territory. The sculpture is made of wood using the technique of hand carving. The figure and stand are tinted with shades of blue. The head is covered with gold paint and sparkles when light hits the surface.

In his work he explores themes of religion, mysticism and the occult, as well as their role in the development of humanity. Astian is known for his interdisciplinary approach to art, including sculpture, installation, literature and musical-performative experiments. He is the author of the Codex Reptilius project, which is an artificially created mystical cult with its own book, sacred objects and music album. The works are in private and public collections in Ukraine, the USA and Europe.
