This is one of the oldest musical instrument in Africa, often identifies by the two sides which creates different musical sounds, the player of this instrument defines how what the drums speaks depending on his skill playing the drum. In the Yoruba history this drum has its significance, as it is believed that Anyangulu who was a yoruba drummer transcended into godhood after his death. It is believed that he is the patron spirit of the Yoruba drummers who inspires and speaks to the people through the drums.
