About The Artwork
Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi has a story about the Galata Tower. He is the first Turkish scholar who managed to fly in the world. It is known that he lived in the seventeenth century and realized his plan to fly during the reign of Sultan Murad IV, who reigned between 1623 and 1640. The story is as follows; Every time Hezarfen goes to the Galata Tower, he thinks about how to fly to Üsküdar, on the opposite continent, from here. He studies birds and develops a winged instrument for flying. and one day he tries to fly from Galata to Üsküdar, but he can't reach Üsküdar even if he manages to fly. In short, I thought about this and posed this picture as I was passing by the place where he was trying to fly. Trying to fly is more important than flying.
