"Les sanglots de la mer" is a work that is part of my memories of travels and especially of Arthur Rimbaud's poem "Le Bateau Ivre". I was inspired by an old photograph. I often walk around the holds of the ports, to see the boats being repaired, the boats waiting in vain for their owners, they are left more than usual abandoned and rusting, or rot under the blows of the natural elements. They are like souls in pain dreaming only of setting out again on the waves, traveling the seas and the oceans. Will the man who approaches the boat repair it and sail towards the undertows of the currents?
