The alienated hero is a figure of hope, fear, strength, and defiance: an image of divinity, even. Throughout his journey, he discovers the complexities of such a state of being, the power of transformation, and a newfound way of experiencing the world. His quest is one of discovery, liberation, and a timeless search to break the barriers of conformity, and to question what it means to be human. The painting will explore both the external and internal aspects of alienation- the colours, composition, and symbolism will represent external aspects such as the tension of leaving the familiar, the uncertainty of the destination, and the dark, brooding energy of leaving one's known state and entering the unknown. Internally, the painting will capture the power and beauty of the hero's inner journey, as isolation can also be an opportunity for profound self-reflection, healing, and reinvention. The painting will become a contemplative and emotive narrative of personal discovery, a celebration of the hero's liberation from normalcy, and a reflection on the potential of the human spirit to challenge and transcend boundaries.

Georgia
Gela Mikava is a Georgian Visual artist. He was born in Zugdidi on November 16, 1995, in a family of IDPs from Abkhazia. Gela won his first art competition at the age of 6 when he drew the image of the Coat of Arms of Georgia with chalk. ,,In a world where materials are often discarded without a second thought, I have chosen a different path. My canvas of choice is the Soviet-era cotton fabric stretch ceiling. These ceilings, often replaced during renovations, carry with them the history of generations. They have been silent witnesses to countless moments, bearing the weight of stories, emotions, and memories. A Canvas with a Legacy: What sets my work apart is the profound connection between my canvas and its past. These stretch ceilings have hosted hundreds, if not thousands, of visitors over the decades. Each footprint, each whisper, and each moment in time is etched into the fabric. When I create a painting on one of these canvases, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to honor the heritage it carries. It is as if the canvas itself guides my hand, telling its own story through my art. Sculpture as a Medium: My artistic exploration extends beyond traditional painting. I venture into the realm of sculpture, where I breathe new life into discarded household items and children's toys. This endeavor is not merely an artistic pursuit; it is a conscious mission to elevate the ordinary, to infuse the forgotten with new purpose. Through these sculptures, I aim to connect diverse materials in a way that is both meaningful and harmonious. The Power of Meaningful Expression: My artistic philosophy revolves around the belief that the most potent expressions emerge from the fusion of different materials and mediums. I strive to create art that not only captures the imagination but also transcends time and sparks profound emotions. Each piece I create tells a story, not only of my vision but also of the materials' rich histories.''
