About The Artwork

I have been using historic painting as a foil to study and respond to I started painting in 1991 by copying 99 segments of Uccello’s Battle of San Romano onto small wooden blocks, then assembled to a larger painting. This is a more recent study of a detail of the Book of Hours of the Duke of Berry. It is painted on on paper pasted on a plywood block, later varnished with yacht vanish. It is a self contained 3D object requiring no frame.
