VIEW IN MY ROOM
a robot is saving a rabbit doll – but the water is even more dangerous for the robot. it´s a kind of hopeless saving action of childhood, of lost times, a symbol of running time like beating waves. once the zeppelin was emblematic as technological progress – now it´s a dark threat over the whole scenery. is technology saving us? or is it just giving a feeling of security that doesn´t really exist and in the meanwhile we are going down…?

Ralph Hackeland was born in Cologne in 1965, later lived on Lake Constance for many years and has worked as a freelance painter, graphic artist and designer in Mannheim since studying communication design. In his figurative works, well-known, universal elements and motifs are brought together, creating a dream-like world in the new constellation. The actors seem strangely removed and seem stuck in inevitable developments. The images are snapshots of these developments and become a still image of an inner film, the further course of which is decided by the viewer.
