The painting 'Magic of the Meadow (green)' (120x100 cm; oil on canvas) was painted on the period of the Summer Solstice (Mid-Summer Festival). It is a very special time when all nature blooms and smells, and colours vibrate. For Nordic and Baltic states, this moment is full of magic – it is the shortest night of the year. I chose to depict the meadow in the evening light – as a play between the dark grey and violet shades of the sky and the tones of flowers – orange, green, and white. I used oil colors and a palette knife for thick and expressive strokes. The horizon line is orange – we don't know what is behind it, but the mood and perfumes of summer reign here, in the foreground of the painting. Maybe it is a flash of lightning, maybe this summer's last field of poppies in bloom...

She graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia (MA Arts), studied at the Academy of Art & Design (AKI) (Netherlands), and participated in the painting master class of the well-known German artist Jorg Immendorf. Lelde has had solo and group exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Netherlands, France, Germany, and Spain. In 2021, she received a Diploma of Recognition from the USA Online Art Gallery as a winner of competition “Landscape 2021” and received an award in the International Juried Art Competition in Malaysia. Lelde works mainly combining painting techniques with graphic elements using a manual serigraphy. In her works she often uses symbolic language to reflect universal themes (such as the perpetuity of time, the duality of the world and the beauty of nature) and seeks out harmonious tonal solutions.
