About The Artwork

- The historic castle of Aigle is amazing! Around the year 1000 people already started building a fortress where today stands this fantastic historic castle "Château d'Aigle". As I am originally from the canton Bern I have been amused by the fact that this building, which today stands in the canton Vaud, was in the hands of Bernese rulers for over 500 years. Nowadays the well maintained castle is a museum for viniculture, and a place you can partially rent for weddings etc. I hope you can imagine that the Château d'Aigle is a must-see place. The material is excellent beech wood with a beautiful fine texture. I give rise to the painting by using the wood-burning pen, watercolors, and by taking the individual wood texture into account. The final work is varnished three times, this gives a beautiful soft brilliance, and guarantees everlasting protection. The painting is delivered without frame and hanging hardware. -

I have been fascinated by burning wood already by the time when I was explaining to my little boys how to decorate objects in a simple way using the woodburning pen. While practicing conventional pyrography, I noticeably missed the play of colors. So this had been the reason why I have been busy in learning the art of coloring. A colorful life is important for me. Even on my daily walks I always choose paths and places that offer some kind of colored beauty. I grew up with photo cameras, and taking pictures is another passion of me. My camera is with me many times because taken photographs serve best as basis for my art. The wood-burned motives are colored with watercolors in a perfect way that allows viewers to still clearly recognize the beautiful and unique patterns of the processed wood. This is what makes my art so unique. The strong combination of burned wood and aquarelle led to call it PYROAQUARELLE.
