About The Artwork

Mixed Medium. Acrylic, Gesso, Glaze on Canvas Board (280g natural cotton duck canvas coated with acid free acrylic gesso). This art work is inspired by the dramatic and beautiful Beachy Head - a chalk headland in East Sussex formed c.66 – 100 million years ago. The cliff is the highest chalk sea in Britain which continues to be eroded by the sea today. Its name, Beachy Head has nothing to do with the word beach, but is a corruption of the original French name(s) Beauchef (1274) and Beaucheif (1317) meaning beautiful headland or beau chef. I wanted to highlight the whiteness of the cliff against the intensely blue sea and sky. As with almost all of my work, it is an interpretation of nature through my visualisation of it. Unique work This piece is shipped unframed, wrapped in acid free paper. It is signed and stamped on the reverse and sent with a certificate of authenticity.

Victoria Harrison is a London based visual artist. She paints brightly coloured works in different media, exploring themes capturing the beauty and delicate balance of nature, through human intervention and her visualisation of it. Victoria studied life drawing and was a member of the Hesketh Hubbard Society and The Federation of British Artists (FBA). Although drawing is still the basis of her painting today, she has an instinctive feel for colour. Over the past two decades, she developed her artistic career exploring new narratives in her practice. These include collage, gilding, colour play and sky inspired series. Her work is cheerful and celebratory, sometimes with an underlying personal element as her titles suggest. Please visit her website for further information www.victoriaharrisonart.co.uk
