"The charisma of Professor Wole Soyinka and his intellectual aura inspired me to document him through my artwork and immortalize his being. Additionally, his status as a Nobel laureate and iconic figure prompted me to recognize and pay tribute to him. Regarding the viewer's perspective, my aim is for them to perceive Professor Wole Soyinka as an intellectual icon when viewing the artwork. I hope that it sparks engagement and inspiration for both the viewer and the subject of the artwork. Furthermore, I wish to encourage viewers to develop enthusiasm for literature and general art. I chose charcoal or graphite on canvas as my medium because I find more expression and depth in drawing. Personally, drawing serves as a vocabulary for me as an artist. Using these mediums on canvas helps me understand the intricacies of nature and allows me to meditate on details, fine-tuning my memory of images. The subject matter of my artwork is an icon, both locally and internationally recognized in his life and politics. Wole Soyinka is an elder statesman deserving of admiration and documentation.
