About The Artwork

The acorn is often an analogy for the start of a long, worthy journey. I was inspired by the contrast in texture between the acorn parts, the nut and the cupule. The stong geometric form captures this contrast wonderfully. The steel has been aged and sealed to give an organic quality. The base is weathered oak, representative in the composition of the earth where the acorn may settle to start another Oak tree.
