"Morehouse" - stone sculpture This original hematite sculpture on granite stand is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by organic abstraction, postmodernism, abstract expressionism and astronomy science. It is a stunning abstract three dimensional form and an amazing elaborate carving in one solid piece of beautiful raw hematite rock. The artist's concept is to create an unique spatial form with the help of extraordinary maze of carvings and details, both in order and disorder and leaving the feeling of lightness and outer space flight. The artwork is one amazing contemporary stone masterpiece and exquisite modern home décor. You can twist it by hand in both directions, as seen on the video. I try to give each artwork the feeling of lightness." ... by the artist Comet Morehouse, very bright comet in a retrograde near-parabolic orbit, remarkable for variations in the form and structure of its ion, or plasma, tail. It was named after American astronomer Daniel Walter Morehouse and was observed from September 1908 to May 1909. On several occasions the ion tail appeared to break into fragments and to be completely separated from the head of the comet. Also, the ion tail became visible at twice Earth’s distance from the Sun (2 astronomical units [AU]; 300 million km, or 186 million miles), whereas most comets start to produce a visible ion tail only at about 1.5 AU (224 million km, or 139 million miles) from the Sun. Those changes in the tail are now known to be caused by the comet’s ions interacting with the solar wind. The comet’s orbital characteristics suggest that Morehouse was a “dynamically new” comet, coming straight from the Oort cloud at a great distance from the Sun. Ognyan Chitakov is a contemporary professional Bulgarian fine art sculpture artist. He has master degree of education at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. He lives and works in the beautiful Bulgarian town of Asenovgrad, where his home and studio are based. Sculpture is his main way of thinking, his way of communication, his way of living and his complex look at life. Sculpture gives him the freedom to create and makes his ideas visible. He loves sculpture because it gathers all in him - form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and above all Art – both fine and sculptural. Among all materials used to shape sculptures his passion lies in stone. Stone is ancient and sacred, and it is already part of his nature. Ognyan Chitakov is nationally famous now for his extra large figurative solid stone sculptures, abstract statues and geometric monuments, which can be seen in many galleries, banks and public places all over the country.
