In Welsh darren means a rocky hillside. Constantly in my view in the long slope of the eastern end of the Black Mountains from Abergavenny to Hay is an inset bowl shape. It is flanked and backed on one side by Black Darren and on the other Red. Landslip in the distant past is responsible. But the view from afar is very different from close-up immersion in the intriguing landscape of the place simply known as The Darren. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze highlighted by the curvaceous line in a polished finish.
