The chinese box is a circolar objekt in travertine stone rassembling a kind of magical box. The both sides are closed by round discs in marble which raffigure a waeved surface. The openings of this carved surface are at the one side larger, on the other finer. On the top of the box there is a lid carved in marble to open the box. My point of interest of this sculpture is always refered to the world of childhood and the mistery asimple objekt like a box can include,- you can hide treasures, you can use it, you can look through it, trying to discover misterial things inside, or you just cross your view through the different weavings, opening your point of view.

Verena Mayer Tasch uses symbolic fragments which origin in a very personal and intimate experience, evoking emotions and feelins which she transforms into sculptural images using a universal and essential formal language. Her artistic research addresses the theme of the various cycles of life and examines the quest ion of circularity implicit in nature and human history. With the help of minimalist objects such as toys (spinning tops, pinwheels, small boats, butterflies, origami folds), she deals with the th eme of happiness as a state of wholeness belonging to the age of childhood, inviting to reclaim this collective memory for a better living of the present.
