About The Artwork

From the depths of the center of the island is where this black marble is quarried. There are two primary sides. One side is carved out as if imploded upon by external pressure and the opposite side is bulging out. Internal and external pressures. The separation between realms that coexist. There are consecutive flowing lines left by the carvers tool also a small area remaining of the stone as it was found weathered by nature as is Wabi sabi

I live and work on a remote island of the Philippines known for its marble that I have exclusively carved in since 2015. "The sculptures I create are unique, organic objects of beauty that can be observed, contemplated and appreciated without having a reference to any pre-existing thing as there is no attempt to make stone look like anything other than stone."
