How much waste is left behind after a festival? The contents of a wheelie bin have been photographed and edited into a Baroque scene of intricate ornaments. During this process I play with composite and color and I make sure that the waste remains recognizable. This is where the transformation takes place and waste becomes art. The photo is printed on Dibond and framed in a decorative wooden frame in the color gold. At the moment this artwork hangs in Castle Nijenhuis of Museum de Fundatie in the Netherlands for the Climate Expo 22. The other 19 editions are printed and framed on commission. Therefore, the shipment of a newly purchased work is later than the usual shipping time at Saatchi.

“Where words are sometimes lacking, color and shapes fill that in for me. I play with it like a writer plays with sentences, or a cook with ingredients”. My work is a constant search for balance. I need structure, but I'm terrified of boring. To find a way around this I try to simplify the complexity of life through my art. What do I need now? What is superfluous? It is a constant game of adding & subtracting, of controlling & letting go. The framed shapes give me structure and tranquility. The colors create tension. This is how I try to create the perfect balance. It is a beautiful and sometimes complicated process. As a child I was already attracted by the dynamics of colors and planes. It is therefore not surprising that I attended the University of the Arts in Utrecht and graduated here in 1996. After that I started working as a fashion designer, stylist, designer and trend watcher. In all these disciplines I was also constantly working on color, form and composition. The love for this is simply in my DNA. Nowadays I work full time as an artist
