Drawn to organic forms my inspiration comes from nature. As a child I was mesmerized by butterflies and ladybugs, and I liked to observe ants and fuzzy caterpillars. At the same time I was fearful of insects that moved too quickly or might sting. Once I started painting them, though, my fear of certain insects turned into an appreciation of their important ecological role, and to this day insects of all kinds are one of my favorite subjects. Four-Spotted Skimmer is one in a series of natural history insect paintings with a modern approach. Backgrounds with gradating acrylic washes contrast with the intricately detailed realism of each insect. The art was created using acrylic paint on paper in combination with digital medium. Image size: 16.5"x10.875", Paper size: 21.5"x15.875" Limited edition prints are hand signed and sequentially numbered by the artist. Each print includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Printed on 100% cotton, acid-free, Epson Signature Worthy fine art paper using Epson archival pigmented inks. The print comes rolled in a crush-resistant telescoping tube.
