My name is Gil Potter. I’m a draftsman, screen printer and graphic designer. In 2022 I set myself a goal, I wanted to create my own drawing style and not emulate someone else's. It’s been a journey of trial and error (and error and error) with lots of learning along the way, with each drawing leading to a more refined approach. This goal paired perfectly with my fascination with nature, and gave me the opportunity to try and share the often fleeting, delicate, and miss able moments that many of us pass by every day. I am still developing as a draftsman but after much persuasion, I decided to share and make my work available to others so they can have the opportunity to enjoy the small moments in nature I try to capture. When drawing, I work using only monotone fine line work with the occasional inclusion of a single block of coloured card. I enjoy the limitations that this gives me as a creative, and the process of distilling a complicated scene to purely line work. In late 2023, I also began producing screen printed reproductions of a selection of my drawings. I wanted to produce versions of my work I would be happy to sell, which retained the craftsmanship that went into creating the originals. I’m happy to say that this was achieved and each print retains not only the intricate linework but also a lot of the texture found in the originals.
