My prints are made the way I paint my paintings. I like to use free brush strokes to make silkscreen prints. For this particular print, I paint with emulsion on the screen directly by adding layers upon layers.

Chao Wang is a contemporary artist who draws inspiration from science-fiction literature and surrealism art. Her works are characterized by the presence of both organic and artificial elements, in a fusion that explores the human relationship with technology. Wang is interested in how human-beings interact with an increasingly technological society, exploring this through intriguing motifs such as cogs and machinery alongside more biological entities that appear similar to microorganisms. Fascinated by the strange and unsettling beauty of the natural world, Chao Wang creates intricate, multi-layered compositions that explore the tension and harmony between organic and mechanical elements. Her surrealist paintings depict an unusual world, using images from the past and present to convey her image of the world in the future. Born in Hangzhou, China, Wang began her artistic journey at a young age, experimenting with various mediums and techniques. With a focus on oil and acrylic on canvas, Chao Wang creates textured, visually complex pieces that challenge viewers' perceptions of what is natural and what is artificial. Through her work, she aims to create a visual dialogue between the natural and the technological, exploring the paradoxical connections between these two worlds. Chao Wang's work has been exhibited in galleries across the country, including Bronx River Art Center, Gowanus Studio Space, Art on the Ave, Pratt Manhattan Gallery, Culture Lab LIC, Super Dutchess Gallery, Artosina Gallery, Van Der Plas Gallery, etc. in New York City, and Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, Solomons, MD, VOYZX, Vancouver, BC, Canada, Richmond Art Museum, Richmond, IN . She currently lives and works in New York City, where she continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art. Ultimately, Chao Wang's work seeks to inspire viewers to see the world in a new light, to appreciate the complexity and beauty of the natural world, and to challenge their perceptions of what is possible through art.
