About The Artwork

Misty Blue by photographer Nick Psomiadis - This day was special, I knew from the moment I woke up that it was going to be special, I just needed to find the right scene. The fog was heavy just as the forecast has predicted the night before, I had already prepared my equipment and waisted no time. I made my way to Williamstown Beach and knew what I wanted to photograph, but I just needed to find the right boat. Driving along the foreshore the fog was thick and visibility was low but it wasn't long before I came across this blue boat. I had plenty of time to set up because I could hardly see the boat, but as the morning unfolded and the sun slowly began to rise, the fog too began to thin out and the blue boat started to stand out. The timing was perfect and I got what I had set out to get. Misty Blue is printed on Cotton Rag 340gsm in a maximum edition size of 50, the print offered on Saatchi Art is edition 46/50

Nick Psomiadis was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia to Greek parents who migrated to the country in the mid-sixties. He received his education from a Technical School, renowned for its comprehensive curriculum integrating both academic and practical skills. This solid foundation paved the way for his successful career in jewelry making, which spanned nearly two decades starting in 1986. Additionally, he indulged in his love for photography, which he pursued as a hobby and pastime. In 2011, Nick made a life-changing decision to follow his passion for photography, leaving behind a fulfilling profession. He furthered his education, completing a course of studies that encompassed both theory and practical training, and was conferred with a "Diploma of Photography." However, he quickly realized that turning his passion into a profession would require immense effort and dedication. Establishing a home studio, Nick laid the foundation for his art, which he created and exhibited for a decade. In the winter of 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by purchasing a studio and gallery space in Melbourne, departing from his modest home studio. Nick currently produces photographic fine art, prints, and displays his works under the name N I K A R T Studio & Gallery, 7/20 Ponting Street Williamstown, Vic 3016. Nick draws inspiration from both the natural landscape and the built environment, patiently waiting for the perfect moment to capture an ephemeral moment in time.
