About The Artwork

When I first met my husband he took me on one of our first dates to Wattamolla which is in the Royal National Park in the Sutherland Shire, Sydney . It was a Friday after work and I remember having absolutely no idea where he was taking me and no idea what Wattamolla was. We got there when there was not another soul around, the sun was going down in the sky and as we scrambled over the rocks, wading across the water to the beach, the absolute beauty of this hidden gem took my breath away. We had a picnic and got eaten by mosquitoes, and I will never forget the quiet, stunning lagoon with the sea surrounded by rocks and bush. We’ve been back many times since, with the kids and it always brings such joy and such happy memories. My favourite bit about this painting is the people swimming in the lagoon. I hope this painting can symbolise memories for your family as well. This artwork requires framing. I suggest a white or black frame to highlight the golden sand. Acrylic on stretched canvas, ready to hang. Signed on the front. 50.8cm (W) x 40.6cm (H) x 1 cm (D) Vanished Satin.

I am a self-taught abstract artist. Much of the colour and subject matter in my art references my own experiences and emotions around stunning landscapes in NZ where I was born and Australia where I now live. I have been a TV Producer for over 20 years, working for overseas TV networks and Australian broadcasters. I am also a casting director for award winning reality and factual shows. As a child, and right through my 20's, 30's and 40's I have loved to paint and create, but it wasn’t until two years ago that I painted really consistently after the loss of my mother. It was the driving force in finding an outlet and a way to work through the grief. I love to use acrylic, concentrating on bright, bold colour combinations – challenging the idea of traditional colour in everyday scenery and incorporating big loose brush strokes to allow a sense of movement. I am motivated to make my mum proud and to bring joy to someone’s day with my pieces of art.
