The relationship between Surrealism and fashion is iconic. It can be found in the fur bangles of Meret Oppenheim, the Chanel campaigns by Man Ray and the theatrical, dreamlike pieces created by contemporary designers such as Alexander McQueen. However, the classic pairing began in the 1930s in the collaborations between the Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí and haute-couture fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. With this artpiece I pay tribute to Surrealism, a twentieth-century literary, philosophical and artistic movement, exploring the workings of the mind, championing the irrational, the poetic and the revolutionary, which for me as a Artist andFashion designer is a passion. Dreamy life drawing fashion illustration session of muse Janet, depicting the otherworldly vibe of Salvadore Dali's art work.

Doris studied Art and Design at Bauhaus influenced Art colleges in Braunschweig and Berlin. The "return to the craft" and the clash of artistic trends such as Expressionism, Dadaism, and Constructivism which she experienced in these environments influenced her work. The Vienna Secession artists Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele also had an impact. Her later studies at the Royal College of Art in London, where she gained a MA in Fashion Design led Doris to a more reduced and minimalistic illustration style. “I am fascinated when drawing the human figure, dressed, semi-nude or undressed. As a fashion designer I always had a passion for designing and drawing fabrics, textures, impressive sculptural garments, and costumes. I am interested in the emotions and moods one can create with the body, postures and Its coverings. Humans express so much of their inner world through their outer appearance.” “Drawing is for me a meditation. When I draw, I enter another universe, totally absorbed in what I do in the moment. I am drawing as an emotional outlet, out of sheer joy and passion. Even when drawing a model, part of the drawing rather reflects me. The topics I choose, the colors, the materials, the atmosphere, all show my inner world and the shifts and changes that happen over time.” Doris worked as a senior designer and illustrater on projects with prestigious fashion brands such as Lanvin, Max Mara, Strenesse, Lanvin, Nina Ricci, Martin Margiela.
