This is one of the 4 paintings from the project called ''Traumatism for fools and beasts''. This project was created out of the need to explore the beauty of putting different materials alongside the carnal. It is composed of a series of paintings that present the same protagonist being subjected to various facial torture methods without the viewer being able to discern whether it is self-inflicted or externally applied. Starting from the use of chains, ropes and ending with plastic sheets, the subject appears initially to be in physical pain, extracted from what can only be described as a nightmare or a psychological delirium. Thru the experiences of the subject portrayed in this series I attempted to reflect the inner turmoil and distress felt during its creation.

In my artistic concerns I have many times been fascinated with the subject of the human body alongside the symbolism of the image of a deformed, fragmented, contorted body. I was always intrigued by the problem of human identity and finding that one part of the body that can capture, contain and express it. Through my compositions, I want to capture ambiguous images which correspond to certain moments of immobilization of the living human body. By trying to reject an approach of the idealized image of the body, I try to capture the vulnerability of the human being, its incoherence and its complexity. I am eager to explore painting techniques that allow us to reduce flesh to simple volumes which can be further manipulated visually. The end purpose is to induce a state of confusion in the observer in recognizing the common image he has of his own body or of the human body in general.
