Story about the painting: Temptation and sinful thoughts are not external enemies, but live within us and never leave us. They usually just slumber and we are not aware of their existence. But it is enough that some impulse comes from somewhere, perhaps a seemingly innocent thought, and the temptation awakens... Our breathing and pulse quicken, our eyes close, our mind vibrates with fanciful ideas... The more we let ourselves be carried away by them, the more intense the temptation becomes and it begins to control our body as well... That's what this painting is about.
