About The Artwork

The artist, Robin Ballard, is inspired by nature as she walks through forests, along waterways and into marshlands. The Petite Camarque is located in the Alsace and is near the Swiss border. In the Petite Camarque there is a pond where moss grows just under the water's surface. Trees loom overhead and cast shadows across the pond, lending and almost soft, or fabric-like appearance. This is one of the artist's favorite stops. In the painting she has tried to recreate this place, adding her own sensibility by painting the branches in the painting a metallic copper color. This painting is part of the artist's “Habitat” series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
