About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by the memory of pleasure as a child when I went to the small village sweet shop and it was full of treasure- multi coloured sweets in big old fashioned glass jars on a wooden table. It was riches to me - and available with the small coins I had to spend. Pink and yellow have long been favourite colours of mine and I wanted to convey the sense of excitement and pleasure I felt choosing between all the wrapped sweets. The painting is made in a special technique perfected to simulate the sheen and saturated colour of silk stretched tight. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
