About The Artwork
SOPHROSYNE was the personified spirit (daimona) of moderation, self-control, temperance, restraint, and discretion. She was one of the good spirits to escape Pandora's box and abandoned mankind in her flight back to Olympos. Her Roman equivalents were Continentia and Sobrietas--continence, moderation, temperance and sobriety. Sophrosyne is the virtue of being reasonable and moderate and having self-control. A virtue is a good quality that a person has, like honesty. Sophrosyne is an important topic for Plato. It is the main subject of the dialogue Charmides, wherein several definitions are proposed but no conclusion reached; however the dramatic context connotes moral purity and innocence. An etymological meaning of sophrosyne as "moral sanity" is proposed in Cratylus 411e. Plato's view of sophrosyne is related to Pythagorean harmonia and closely linked with Plato’s tripartite division of the soul: sophrosyne is the harmonious moderation of the appetitive and spirited parts of the soul by the rational part

So far, main area of interest in my paintings was about modern man and woman, representing them through paintings of street garbage which is common, almost everywhere. This aspect is one of the socio-ecological problem of modern world and painting of it is the best way of representing the the way of people's lives in 21st century. Mostly, humans are not presented on the paintings but the garbage on the streets are witness of their presence. Also, my big passion is painting of still life and human figure whether is it nude or figure in room. This love was developed during my studies and in future period, next to my first series of painting, I will also be presenting nude art and classical painting.
