Titled "Sunset over Fields". The glow of the cloud left a blanket of its color to the field below. This is in the Mad River Valley in the towns of Waitsfield and Warren in central Vermont. Painted in 2018, this acrylic on a 3/4" wood panel measures 16" high by 20" wide. It's unframed with the edge of the panel showing some of paint from the front, and the natural wood support slightly darkened with a glaze. This can be seen from the side view photos. This adds an immediacy and freshness to the painting, showing a little bit of the working process. Please look at the images carefully. This is painted very loosely with quick brushstrokes in a painterly manner with texture. It has a glossy sheen as shown in the side view photos. There are two other sister paintings to this one if they haven't sold yet in my shop. About the artist: Stephen Remick was born and raised in Vermont. He earned a BFA in Painting from Swain School of Design, a small art school in Massachusetts. He resides in a coastal New England town with his wife, Anne Carrozza Remick, who is also an artist on Saatchi. Steve's paintings are in private collections all over the U.S. and abroad.

I'm painting my back yard and the world beyond. Familiar, everyday sights that may only get a peripheral, passing glimpse. In-the-moment scenes… a yard sale, a backyard tree house, or a new house foundation under construction and filled with potential. Signs of prior lives… a centuries old, crumbling foundation who's long gone owner held that same potential as today’s builder, a cemetery reclaimed by the woods. Trying to guide the viewer to think in a deeper way, to realize our connection to each other, our environment, our past, and our future. Also re-connecting with an abstract, color-field series from the early 2000's, with inspiration drawn from land and sky and the abstract expressionist movement. In between all that, plein air painting when I can. Nothing beats painting from life. Born and raised in Vermont, currently living in Massachusetts.
