About The Artwork
The Spyhouse Cafe on Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis is an independent coffee chain that was started at this location. It is located very near the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Minneapolis College of Art and has attracted a young, artistic, and diverse group of creative types since it opened in 2001. The space is a subject in and of itself with surfaces, finishes, and natural and man-made materials that glow in the light of different times of day. For me this painting, like many of my cafe paintings, is like a still from a film, suggesting a story just about to unfold or a happening that will take place in this environment. I like to elevate the everyday spaces and pastimes of our lives into something mystical and sublime.

I'm a Twin Cities based visual artist with a studio in the Northeast Minneapolis arts district located in the Casket Arts Building.
